Dear Yuletide Santa,

First and foremost: thank you. Thank you for taking the time to write me an amazing story in an amazing universe.

Hello Yuletide Fairy!

Yuletide is easily my favorite ficathon of the year, and I wanted to start by saying THANK YOU SO MUCH for offering to write for me! I think the best part about Yuletide is getting to write something fun in a fandom that you don't usually get to write in, so please feel free to go wild and use your imagination with whatever you choose to write!

I wanted to give you a bit of info on my likes and dislikes. The only things that I'm completely opposed to are non-con/rape, bestiality, and child abuse. Oh, and no AUs please! I prefer stories set in their actual canon universe (although an alternate-reality type fic would be awesome).

I prefer stories that are happier, but I can definitely appreciate some angst if it has a purpose! Other than that, it's all up to you! Slash? Sure! Het, gen, whatever you want! Any rating is fine, from G to NC-17. I think I'll most enjoy a fic that you enjoy writing. And please feel free to use my requests as suggestions, not requirements.

Thank you again, I can't wait for December!

Michelle

My requests:

How to Train Your Dragon: I would love a fic where Hiccup decides to run away with Toothless instead of killing his first dragon, but Astrid doesn't find him and stop him in time. Basically I want a fic with Hiccup and Toothless going off and being awesome. Or, failing that, just fic of Hiccup and Toothless being awesome.

Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern: I personally ship Widget/Bailey/Poppet, but I don't really mind if my Dear Writer doesn't. I'd just love to see the three of them together, friends or something more, at the circus. Could be present day, could be the past. Could be the far future, even. Just Bailey with his family at the circus.

The Long Earth - Stephen Baxter/Terry Pratchett: I know there's a book two planned, so I don't really want a "what happens after" story. Maybe instead a story of Joshua exploring a strange new Step World? Or some of his adventures from his early days of Stepping?

The Magicians - Lev Grossman: I love this series so much. I will honestly be thrilled with ANYTHING that is written in his fandom, especially if it's about Quentin. That said, I don't really care if you want to write about Alice, or Eliot, or Dean Fogg. Okay, maybe not Dean Fogg... I have read both "The Magicians" and "The Magician King" multiple times, though, so either cannon is fine with me. (PS, I currently live in Antarctica, so if you were to write a fic that took place while they were at Brakebills South, I might actually love you forever and ever.)

Yes, I'm doing Yuletide this year. At least, I'll attempt it... I had to choose only canon that I knew well, nothing that's had new canon added to it in the last month (funny, I haven't missed TV or internet until it came time to choose Yuletide requests and offers).

So, then:

This policy applies to all future public posts with photos in them:

When I go to a concert and take pictures, I do not have to share those pictures. I can keep them on my computer, or make personal icons of them, and keep them to myself. But I choose to share them, and I feel like that act of kindness should in turn warrant a bit of respect.

When I post a picture, you are welcome to take the picture and save it to your own hard drive. You can make a LJ header or a personal icon out of it. I don't care, and I don't need credit in these cases. Go forth, I give you permission to use my pictures for your own personal use only.

What you CANNOT do, though, is claim the picture as your own, or make icons to share with other people without crediting me.

This is the way it is. If you have any questions, you can go read up about the the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License, which will be posted alongside all future posts containing photos.

(If you have a very specific request that would, for whatever god-only-knows reason, require not giving credit, please comment here or on the post containing that photo to ask permission.)

Thank you.
